From my understanding all splicing of electrical wiring has to be contained in a junction box. If you will need to fish wiring through a wall drill a hole through the wood plate in the attic only. I cannot find this specifically in code so here is my question. Installing additional electrical wiring should be done according to local and national electrical codes with a permit and be inspected.
